I am interested in observing people's sentiments and reinterpreting them through various media. As an adult woman, I often reflect on and draw from my mother's endeavors and the demanding sacrifices she made raising her family. Camellia's Wish, a multi-media installation piece, interprets my mother's life and imputes my desire to give her freedom, a colorful life, and return her to her youth. The featured wedding photograph speaks to a lost past–a critical moment which has already occurred. The painting indexes my mother's current place in time and space, speaking to the present and the trajectory of her life. The dress illustrates a kind of yearning–simultaneously that of an impossible future and my hopes for her. That is, I wish she could wear the dress and abscond from the wedding hall, returning to a past life with possibilities.
